Tadeusz Maniak, age 85, of Reedsburg, WI, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's hospital in Madison, WI on October 19, 2021.
Tadeusz was born to Jozef Maniak and Wiktoria (Soltys) Maniak on October 10, 1936 in Poland. He spent his youth on their family farm in Siemiechow, Poland, then worked as a carpenter making pews for the church. He married Jozefa (Kozik) Maniak, and welcomed two sons, Adam and Kazimierz, who he dreamed of bringing to the United States. In 1977, he traveled to Austria to obtain asylum, and worked as a delivery man prior to his arrival in America a year later.
Tadeusz started work as a carpenter in Chicago, and after several years, reunited with his wife and children. He then worked at the Wrigley Field Restaurant until his retirement after 22 years. He moved to Wisconsin with his family and lived with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
His hobbies included playing the lottery, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and putting many miles on his bicycle while discovering surrounding areas. His beloved and faithful companion, Martini the Shih Tzu, was always by his side.
Tadeusz is preceded in death by his parents, Jozef and Wiktoria; sister Stanislawa, and brothers; Zygmunt and Kazimierz. He is survived by his wife, Jozefa Maniak; his sons, Kazimierz (Mariola) Maniak and Adam Maniak; his sister, Irena Maniak and his grandchildren, Adrian (Yvette) Maniak, Alex (Jamie) Maniak, Sabina Maniak, and Suzie Maniak.
Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, WI, on Thursday, October 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells on Friday morning, October 29 at 10 a.m. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., led by Father Eric Sternberg. The burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.
