Valera Elissa (Nimmow) Zamzow, age 83 of Nederland, TX, passed away at her home on March,14, 2026. She will be greatly missed by those whom she loved so devotedly.

Val was born December 22, 1942, in Baraboo, WI to Hermine (Carlin) Nimmow and Waldemar Nimmow of Rock Springs, WI. She was the 7th of 11 children. After graduating from Reedsburg High School, she worked as a nanny. With her first paycheck, she bought her 3 younger siblings their own roller-skates. While she was working as a skate-girl, she met her future husband, Donald J Zamzow. They were married June 6, 1964 and raised their family in Wisconsin Dells.

They shared a love for skating and continued to waltz and two-step together for years, taking their children skating most Sunday afternoons. They celebrated 61 years of marriage and worked together to create a home full of love and encouragement for their children.

Val focused all of her heart and energy on loving and serving her family. She had home-cooked meals so the family could eat together each night. She kept an immaculate house and washed thousands of loads of work clothes and sports uniforms. She volunteered at school throughout the years; was a girl-scout leader, a den mother for boy scouts, and chaperone, organizer, driver to every camp, club, game, and event. She made sock puppets, finger Jello worms, and hand-stitched Barbie clothes. She created unique home-made Halloween costumes, crafts, and couch cushion forts. She hosted endless sleepovers for her children's friends, in a home where everyone felt welcome.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sending endless letters, packages, and picture books she would make for them during her visit. She maximized her time taking them on walks, to town festivals, going to school lunches and playing with them as if she were a kid herself. She could still run and chase them at 75.

Val is survived by her devoted husband Don, her son Randy Zamzow (Melissa) and daughter Kathy Arnold (Mike). She has 5 granddaughters: Joyana Lozano (Maison), Abby Willis (Aaron), Lauren Bruney (Andrew), Mina Arnold and Naysa Arnold. She has 1 beautiful great-grand- daughter, Melany Katherine Lozano and 1 precious great-grandson, Hollis James Bruney.

She left this world a better place.
