Wacogįnįwi, Marian Margaret Miner, embarked on her journey home on August 14, 2025.

Born in Tomah, Wisconsin, on June 14, 1934, to George and Rosemary (WhiteRabbit) Miner, where she grew up with her family. She attended a one-room classroom school in Wisconsin Dells across from the two acres that held grades K-12, she then attended Necedah, went to Tomah during cranberry season, then Graduating from Wisconsin Dells in1952. She got her Associates in the Arts. She moved to Rochester to pursue a nursing degree and nearly completed it before returning home to care for her mother. She learned basket making from her mother, Cuuwi's, and sisters. Which led her passion to share her basket making skills, her creations graced the Smithsonian Museum and the White House during President Obamas tenure.

Marian Margaret Miner was the matriarch of her family, known for her quick wit, sharp shooting skills in the lodge, and love for the traditional way of life. She guided her children and grandchildren through life's challenges whenever they needed her guidance and encouragement.

She was deeply loved by her family and attended every celebration and sporting event, cheering and shouting from rain or shine to snow and sleet.

She is survived by her children, Lance Tallmadge, Scott (Dawn) Beard, Jon Eric Miner, Thomas (Virgie) Pera, Heidi (Robert) Bird, Heather (Nate) Beal; her grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was proceeded in death by her children, Stewart Miner, Lisa (Vincent) Miner-Leith, Kristopher (Steven Solberg) Miner, Alicia Miner, and her parents, George and Rosemary Miner.

Traditional Ho-Chunk Services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station. Richard Mann will officiate. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Family and Friends are invited for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Sunday, at the funeral home. The family can't thank enough, the St. Croix Hospice care, Ho-Chunk Nation, Language and Culture Division, Health Division, and many others during this time.
