William "Bill" Roberts Sr., age 79, of Mauston, Wisconsin passed away on July 13, 2024, at Mile Bluff Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston with Fr. Jey Yobu celebrating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of mass. Bill will be laid to rest following mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Mauston. There will also be a luncheon to follow the burial at Riverside Park in Mauston, WI.

Bill was born on January 24, 1945, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin; the son of Emmerdell Roberts. He married the love of his life Elsie Pettera on October 1, 1966, and the couple enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Bill was employed as a machinist at Big Joe Manufacturing in Wisconsin Dells for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2009.

In his younger years, Bill could often times be found in the garage working on vehicles. He was a jack of all trades, capable of fixing almost anything and he mastered many home improvement projects. Bill was a great conversationalist with vast knowledge in many subjects and he enjoyed spending hours talking to family, friends and neighbors. He had a lifelong love for the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

Bill had the most gentle, humble and kind soul and he was highly respected because of the man he was. There was an aura about him and anyone lucky enough to have known him is a better person because of it.

He will be deeply missed by many.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Elsie; two sons William (Tracy) Roberts Jr. and Jeffrey (Alison) Roberts, and a daughter Loretta (Daniel) Roberts. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel Kopplin, Ryan Roberts, Brandon Ray, Dylan Ray, Jordan Roberts and Olivia Roberts, along with 2 great-grandchildren, brother Ernest Roberts, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Henry Trappe, and 2 brothers Robert Roberts and Victor Trappe.
